(5th grade)

Social Prep is…

an etiquette and manners program designed for 5th grade students that is precursory to our longstanding 7th grade Social program taught in the Atlanta community for 40 years.

Social Prep Season includes class once a week for 4 weeks after school with a fifth and final week to culminate in a special Social Prep event for registered students.

Social Prep is an elevated, well-structured, supervised class which encompasses traditional as well as modern etiquette utilizing the well established standards of Emily Post emphasizing that,

“Consideration for the rights and feelings of others is not merely a rule for behavior in public but the very foundation upon which social life is built.”

- Emily Post, Etiquette 1st edition.

We emphasize learning that builds self-confidence in future social situations.

Good manners for children to include:

  • table manners

  • writing thank you notes

  • techno-manners

  • speaking politely on cell phones

  • introductions

  • participating in parties

  • group social dance.

Social Prep is an entirely different curriculum and content coverage from our 7th Grade Social Cotillion program. Taking Social Prep does not replace taking Social Cotillion or vice versa. Rather, Social Prep builds a foundation for Social Cotillion.
