Figgy’s Story
A little Shih Tzu rescue, Figgy was thrown off of the I-75 overpass into the Chattahoochee where she swam to a little island. She was on the island for more than 2 weeks. A TDNR friend was kayaking on the Chattahoochee and spotted Figgy on the island. She put little Figgy, who weighed only 2 lbs with a broken front leg, into her kayak, and took her to TDNR. We adopted Figgy in March 2024 and she is now a healthy, well-adjusted little dog. This added element will serve as a wonderful way for the students to learn the importance of social philanthropy – You will be given an opportunity to make a donation to TDNR when you purchase your student's ticket to help other dogs like Figgy!
We want to add meaning to the 8th Grade Social Dance: The Figgy Ball with an introduction to philanthropy! We are showing support to Three Dog Night Rescue (TDNR), a licensed registered 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by Westminster alumna Louise Hatcher. You can see TDNR’s work on their website or @tdn_rescue on instagram.
Please note: donation is optional, donation funds go directly to TDNR via paypal, and tickets/registration to the 8th Grade Social Dance: The Figgy Ball are purchased separately here.
